This Season:

After another great away win last Saturday, the Annan 1st XV are 3 wins from 3 in the league. Annan are now one of only 3 teams to have played 3, won 3. The other 2 being Allan Glens and Greenock Wanderers who happen to meet on Saturday!

East Kilbride will feel they should perhaps also be unbeaten but they lost for the first time in the league last Saturday to Allan Glens. A last minute penalty for Glens nicked the win.

At the bottom, Stewartry are still winless and pointless. They have a home tie v Cumnock so they should get some form of points on the board you would think.

It will be another 3-4 games before the front-runners for promotion and relegation will become apparent but as usual West 1 is shaping up to be a competitive scrap between the teams with the majority being able to win on their day regardless of the opposition.

A win for either Annan or East Kilbride and both teams will know that promotion is a distinct possibility for this year.

Both teams are celebrating their 50th this year so it would be good if one of us went up this year!

Previous Encounters:

So the 1st XV welcome East Kilbride to Annan for the 10th time and for the 20th match up between the team at a 1st XV competitive level.

East Kilbride hold the edge over Annan with 11 wins to Annan's 6. 2 games ending in draws.

In the most recent meetings last season, East Kilbride came away with a 10-9 win at the Everholm and romped to a 31-13 win at Torrance House.

The games between the team are normally close but high-scoring affairs. Over the 19 matches previously played it averages Annan 18 v East Kilbride 20!

So Saturdays game will no doubt be similar but perhaps more on the lines of Annan 20 v East Kilbride 18 hopefully!

East Kilbride are also celebrating their 50th year this season so congratulations to them.

A win for either team would consolidate their position near the top. For Annan a win could put then top if Allan Glens defeat Greenock (and various bonus point scenarios happen). For East Kilbride a win could put them 2nd and with none of the top 3 teams playing next week, a win next Saturday v Cumnock could put East Kilbride top.

So all to play for in this clash between the 50th Anniversary clubs.

My prediction for the game: A Craig McCann drop goal in the last minute for the win!
