This Season: With the 1st XV losing last weekend for the second game in a row, they have now lost touch with the top 4. The league is now splitting into 3.

One from Allan Glens, East Kilbride, Greenock Wanderers and Garnock will probably be champions come season end. 4 points cover the top 4. It was Greenock's to lose after the first 6 games. And they seem to be doing just that having lost 2 of their last 3. Allan Glens are now the favourites I feel.

The middle section, 7 further points back are Annan, Irvine, Cambuslang and Stewartry. Again 4 points covers these 4 teams. If any one of them wants to top the league come season end, they can probably afford no more loses. Not 100% safe from relegation but looking safe unless a total collapse.

The bottom section are the remaining Kilmarnock, Strathendrick, Cumnock and Dalziel. 9 points further back with 7 points covering these teams. Dalziel look like favourites for 1 of the drop places. Saturdays opponents Kilmarnock have found some form recently having drawing 1 and winning 2 of their last 5. Their last game was a narrow loss to Glens. Doubt many teams will get close to the Glens this season again!

Still lots to play for this season. For Annan they need a win to steady the ship and for Kilmarnock to get themselves safer from the relegation spot/s

Previous Encounters:

So the 1st XV welcome Kilmarnock 1st XV to Annan for the 14th time at a 1st XV competitive level. Founded in 1868 the Ayrshire team are celebrating their 150th year!

The teams have met at a 2nd XV and 1st XV v 2nd XV level in the past but it wasnt until 2000 that the 1st XV's finally met.

And with the teams meeting 12 times at Kilmarnock, it will be the 26th meeting between the respective 1st XV's

It's currently Annan with 11 wins and Kilmarnock with 13 wins. 1 match was a draw.

It really is a fixture where home advantage seems to play with Annan winning 9 times at Violetbank and Kilmarnock 10 times at Bellsland.

The last trip to Violetbank for Kilmarnock though was a win for the Ayrshire team. 25-31.

Both teams have lost their last 2 games so both will be wanting to stop the rot before it gets out of hand!

On average both teams score 19 points in this fixture. Annan having scored 488 points and Kilmarnock 478 in the 25 previous matches.

So chances are it will be Kilmarnock with a 19-17 lead going into the final minute......

My prediction for the game: A Craig McCann drop goal in the last minute for the win!
