ANNAN 34 v CARTHA 0
SUNDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2005

The Warriors won the league with a fine performance against a big Cartha team who never gave up and made Annan perform well to beat them. But Annan had too much quality in the team and when they threatened the Warriors just upped a gear.

Ryan Gracie, Euan Braid and Alex Dunbar played their second game of the weekend and were outstanding. Roy Thorburn had another good performance. Evan Black linked well at No 10 and tackled non stop and again the counter attacking full back play of Callum Henderson was a joy to watch.

Tries by Mark Clark (2) Alex Dunbar (2) Roy Thorburn and Euan Braid got 1 each. Evan Black added 2 conversions. The boys were pleased at the final whistle ‘job done’.

CLYDEBANK 0 V ANNAN 97
SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2005

The game started out as an ill-tempered contest fuelled in part by some strange refereeing decisions. The Annan pack continued to show discipline above their years and managed to feed ball of consistent quality and frequency to set up a running bonanza for the backs to score well worked tries.

Half time brought a stern team talk and allowed the second half to be played out in full control with Clydebank tamed and humbled by a team making rugby do the talking. Again this Annan team are able support a fifteen man effort with the definite rise in self belief.

A big thanks to U15 players who stood in and contributed well in all areas.

Scorers: A Dunbar (9tries), R Thorburn (3tries +1 conversion) J.Harrison (try) M.Clarke (try), Penalty try and E Black slotted 10 conversions to ice the cake.

ALLAN GLENS 5 V ANNAN 12
SUNDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2005

On a cold, wet and miserable day at the “Bearyards” Annan worked hard to replace Alan Glens at the top of the league. Now with 4 games to go the boys must concentrate and work hard to win the title. No stars this week it was a team effort to hold on and win. Tries by Evan Black and Alex Halliday and a conversion by Evan Black sealed the win.

ANNAN 21 V HELENSBURGH 0
SUNDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2005

It’s been 6 weeks since this team had a fixture and it showed but hard work and the class of Mark Clark and Ewan Braid made sure Annan won. James Bigham, Mark Anderson and Jamie Harrison moved up from U15 Tigers and did well especially Mark Anderson out of his normal position. Try scores were 2 from Ewan Braid and one from Jamie Harrison. James Bigham coolly slotted the 3 conversions.

STRATHAVEN 24 v ANNAN 57
SUNDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2005

It would be fair to say that this result did reflect the game but if Stathaven had been more successful in getting the ball to wider positions it could have been a different story.

It was the Annan forwards who took control of the match and dominated throughout taking great credit for their efforts. Mark Clark was again outstanding at scrum half linking well with Evan Black at stand off who kept his forwards going forwards and organised. Try scorers were David Wilkinson (2), and one apiece from Euan Braid, Nial Henderson, Mark Panczak, Callum Nicholson, Ryan Gracie, Roy Thorburn, and Mark Clark. Evan Black converted six of the tries.

DUMFRIES 34 v ANNAN 29
SUNDAY 28TH AUGUST 2005

This was a hugely entertaining final warm up game for the Annan squad and one played after a good practice session on Wednesday. They are now ready to face Stathaven this weekend. The points were scored by Alex Dunbar (2 tries), Mark Clark, Roy Thorburn, Evan Black and Ewan Braid with Evan Black converting 2 of the tries.
