WARRIORS AND HORNETS RAISE £1000 23RD AUGUST 2015
SPONSORED WALK UP CRIFFEL
Last Sunday the girls from Annan Warriors and Hornets rugby teams took part in a sponsored pre-season walk up Criffel.
22 players were joined by three young supporters, as well as some parents and coaches, on what turned out to be a glorious sunny day. The party left from Sweetheart Abbey and walked out through New Abbey before heading off up the hills.
The route took them up through the woods and out onto Knockendoch over some very wet and boggy ground after the monsoon of the night before.
After a brief stop at the top the girls headed over onto the main hill and they stopped for lunch on the top of Criffel where Warriors captain Linden Moffat was able to inform them that as a result of their efforts and sponsors they had raised £1000 towards the clubs funds.
After a team photo and all the selfies were taken the girls headed off downhill returning to Sweetheart Abbey for water and dry footwear.
Before heading home the prizes for most sponsors raised were handed out to Jane Stewart, Adele Wyllie and Caroline Aitken.

The game will be split into 3 x 20 min sections with a chance to try out players in various positions prior to the first league outing away to Greenock Wanderers on Sunday 6th September 3.00 pm kick off.
Why not pop along and see the pride of Dumfriesshire’s Women’s rugby teams go head to head.
On the subject of the First league match there will be a bus with room for supporters leaving Bank Street at 11.00 am on Sunday 6th September.
Please contact Ian Hamilton if you require a seat. All welcome. Let’s get behind The Warriors!
Worth noting that with the influx of 12 Sirens there was a total in excess of 90 players training at Violetbank last night. This included S1 to u16 boys, senior men and women. Add to that 8 coaches, the squad erecting tents for Saturdays tournament and committee members preparing fences and pitches for the tournament and we had over 100 people in attendance.
