FOUNDER MEMBER DIES
Annan Rugby Club are immensely saddened to report the death of founder member of the Club Scott Little who died on Tuesday. Scott had been involved with Annan RFC since its inception 40 years ago and had, indeed, been a stalwart of the Club - as a player, Captain, fixture secretary, committee member, referee and Vice-President and latterly as the "overseer" at Violetbank. Scott gave a lot, and meant a lot, to Annan Rugby Club. We shall be eternally grateful for that. The Club's thoughts are with Janette, Garry and Derry at this sad time.

THE 2NDS ARE WELL BEATEN
Annans 2nd XV were totally outclassed at Park Farm on Saturday by a well drilled, fit and talented home outfit in this West 1 Scottish Reserve League fixture. Annan, who with the benefit of a couple of experienced players in the mix of youngsters held out with some desperate defence for 15 minutes when the home side scored and this opened the floodgates as tries were scored at regular intervals thereafter with 57 points being scored by the home side in each half. To Annans credit the young team gave their all for 80 minutes with veteran Billy Henderson, who led from the front for the entire match, fitness and commitment exemplary throughout the game.
ANNAN WELCOME EAST KILBRIDE TO VIOLETBANK
Annan, still without any league points in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues, welcome 3rd bottom East Kilbride to Violetbank. Annan will be hoping to bounce back from last Saturdays disappointing performance at Langholm. Match Report
BASEMENT BATTLE AT MILNTOWN
Annan travel to Milntown on Saturday to take on local rivals Langholm in the basement battle in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues. Langholm like Annan have suffered a painful opening to their league campaigns with both sides still looking for their first win of the season. The Annan coaches will be looking for another improved performance from their charges after last Saturdays encouraging performance against RHC at Violetbank. Langholm, who had a heavy defeat at Dalziel last week will be looking to bounce back and are always much stronger at home than away so Annan will have to be on form to get a win.
Annan 1st XV Squad: C Warrick, S Haren, J Gilmour, K Watret, J Nelson, R Dunlop, D Barnes, G Smith, E Braid, G Hogg, A Jancey, A Halliday, D Wyllie, M Griffen, J Crowther, G Lynch, K Jones, J Bigham

Meet at Violetbank at 1.45pm for a 3.00pm K.O.
Match Reps: to be confirmed
The 1sts lost to RHC 29-11. Again it was an improved performance and at half time Annan were only 11-5 down but some slack defending in the 2nd half handed RHC the victory.
Annan take on Langholm next week who may still be in shock from the 76-0 humping they took today.
THE 2NDS GO DOWN TO GHK
Annans 2nd XV were comprehensively beaten by a well drilled and competent GHK XV and whilst the home side battled well in the forwards they were undone in the backs. The visiting back division were able to slice through the Annan defences at will scoring freely throughout the full 80 minutes.
Although Annan were well served by the large squad who turned up for the match - it was at home! - the match did show that there is no substitute for fitness and teamwork which can only be obtained by turning up at training. Annans only points came from a penalty ably converted by No 8 Neil Halliday.
ANNAN AT HOME TO ROYAL HIGH CORSTORPHINE
With four straight losses Annan will be hoping to get a win against the 3rd bottom side in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues on Saturday when they welcome RHC to Violetbank. Annan won their home game and lost away last season.

The 1sts go down again, this time to Murrayfield Wanderers 35-8. The Annan points coming from a 2nd half Ewan Currie try and a penalty from Alex Halliday.
Although defeated it was a much improved Annan performance who were still in the game at half-time (11-0). Alas there was another injury to add to the extensive list as Jonny Callaghan dislocated his shoulder.
THE 2NDS GO DOWN TO KILMARNOCK
The 2nds also go down - 60-7 to a strong Kilmarnock side.
ANNAN TRAVEL TO THE CAPITAL TO TAKE ON MURRAYFIELD WANDERERS
Annan travel to Edinburgh on Saturday to take on fellow strugglers Murrayfield Wanderers in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues. Their hosts have also had a difficult start to their league campaign losing all three of their opening games and sit second bottom on zero points. Although Annans injury woes continue with flanker Euan Braid side lined last weekend with a leg injury there is some good news for the beleaguered club with full back Kevin Jones making his comeback after being injured in the Violetbank Tournament in August.
Annan 1st XV Squad: C Warrick, S Haren, J Nelson, K Watret, M Carpenter, D Barnes, E Braid, G. Smith, A Jancey, G Lynch, E Currie, M Griffen, J Callaghan, D Wyllie, A Halliday, R Gracie, K Jones, R Dunlop.

THE 2NDS GAME WAS OFF
The 2nds game against Greenock Wanderers was cancelled as Annan could, sadly, only raise 9 players for the game.
ANNAN WELCOME LINLITHGOW TO VIOLETBANK
Annan take on Linlithgow this Saturday at Violetbank in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues. Linlithgow were promoted from Division 2 as runners up last season. Annan have played their visitors several times in the past the last time being in 2007 at Violetbank when Annan ran out winners winning 25-14.
After a disappointing start to the season, sitting bottom of the league without a point after two games, Annan will be looking to winning their first game and give their supporters something to shout about. The Annan selectors have not had their problems to seek in the last few weeks with several players sustaining injuries, one or two unfortunately long term, with Keith Hogg (cracked shoulder blade) and Ray Fulton (broken ribs) to name but two.
Annan 1st XV squad: J. Nelson, R Dunlop, K Watret, S Haren, C Warrick, D Barnes, E Braid, M Carpenter, C Nicholson, P Carruthers, G Lynch, A Jancey, E Currie, M Griffen, D Wyllie, A Halliday, J Callaghan, J Crowther.

ANNAN TRAVEL TO BERWICK IN LEAGUE
Annan make their second longest journey in their league campaign with a trip to Scremerston to take on Berwick. Berwick had a back start to their league campaign like Annan losing away to Dalziel and will be looking to make amends on Saturday as will Annan following their poor performance at Violetbank.
The Annan selectors have been forced to make some changes due to injury and unavailability with Kevin Jones still injured (hamstring) and Keith Hogg injured last Saturday (shoulder) although Ryan Gracie makes his comeback from injury and hooker Paul Carruthers available for front row duty.

THE 1STS TAKE ON THE STUDENTS
This Saturday sees League rugby return to Violetbank when Annan welcome Edinburgh University in the first match in Division 1 of the S.H.E. National Leagues of the 2009-10 season. Annan do not have a particularly happy memories of last seasons encounters at home or away against the Uni boys losing both games.
Annan President Don Bartys thoughts on the coming season remain upbeat despite last seasons dissapointments.
"Last season was a bit of a disappointment, following our 3rd place finish the previous year. I know that the fitness levels of the players is high and they are all straining at the leash for the action to begin. The Violetbank Shield win last Saturday gives everyone a boost and it was great to see five youngsters being blooded in the tournament. Our coach, Paul Buckley, has worked hard with the players over the summer. Personally, I think that National One is our level at the moment and I would be looking for a mid-table finish. It's certainly a demanding league and there are huge challenges ahead. I'm looking for Annan to play an entertaining, expansive brand of rugby which will attract the spectators to Violetbank. Our playing pool could be bigger, but nothing would give me greater pleasure than for some of our very promising youngsters to break through into the first XV this season."
Annan 1st XV Squad: C Warrick, C Bell, J Nelson, G Hogg, R Dunlop, M Carpenter, E Braid, G Smith, A Jancey, G Lynch, D Wyllie, K Hogg, M Griffen, A Carlyle, A Halliday, J Gilmour, E Currie, C Nicholson, K Watret, J Callaghan

Full List
President Don Barty welcomed a healthy turnout to the clubs AGM held in the clubhouse at 17 Bank Street. He thanked all the coaches, committee members, bar staff and all other helpers who had given of their time and efforts over the season. The season on the playing side had not been helped due to the inability, over the season, to gain continuity on the field due in the main to the dreadful weather and player availability. Both senior sides had, despite some poor results, maintained their positions in the S.H.E. National League Division 1 and Division 4 (West) of the Scottish 2nd XV Leagues respectively. It had been particularly heartening to see the Under 14 side up and running by the end of the season.
In the coming season Annan will be celebrating their 40th season and it was intended to mark the occasion with events throughout the year. He also welcomed the fact that the club had as their main sponsor Magnox North on board for their 18th season. He closed his report with a call to arms for the coming season.
Club Treasurer Lindsay Currie reported on the clubs finances, which despite some major outlays, mainly at Violetbank, were in a healthy position. He outlined the major developments planned for the coming season which included ongoing pitch improvements at Violetbank and clubhouse refurbishment and a major push for fundraising in the coming year.
The following members were elected as Club office bearers for the 2009/10 season:
Club President: Don Barty
Club Captain: John Nelson
The Clubs longest serving President of 16 years Alan Robertson, who served as President from 1984 to 2000, having previously been a committee member, secretary and vice President of the club was proposed as an Honorary Club President for his work and commitment to the club over the past 33 years. Alan continues to act as the clubs press officer and photographer and he along with his son Angus administer the clubs website.
