Annan finally overcome Langholm on the leagues, winning 19-10 at Violetbank. The Annan points coming from a Stuart Williamson try, and 14 points from the boot of Niall Smith. This game unfortunatly relegates Langholm to Division 2 next season. Annan though can now claim to be the Premier League in SW Scotland (although I've been saying that for years!!!!) - Well played Annan

Annan win this crucial game against Trinity Accies 18-15. This win keeps Annan up in division 1 for next year. Always going to be a tight affair, Annans points come from Kevin Jones (try) Graham Smith (try) and 8 points from the boot of Niall Smith (1 cons and 2 penalties).
In Annans first game for almost 2 month, Annan are unluckly beaten by a well drilled Ross High Team. The 8 point losing margin also means than Annan did not gain a bonus point which would have been useful. Annan last 2 remaining games are at home to Trinity Accies and Langholm, dates still to be confirmed

Following the postpoponded match against Trinity Accies the Accies coach has responded to why the match was called off:
As Trinity Coach I was concerned by the rumours being published on your Web site, regarding why Saturdays match was cancelled.
A letter explaining the circumstances has been sent to your Club President and the SRU. I hope you will find time to update your Web site with the facts (contained in the letter) about why we were unable to travel.
We were badly let down by our bus company, and then made every
effort to round-up enough cars to make the journey, but to no-avail.
(The majority of our team do not own cars.)
Cheers
Fergus Henderson
Coach TARFC
The Annan RFC Webpage would like to apologise for any offence the reporting of the incident may have caused Trinity Accies.
Apologies, the Annan RFC Webpage.
Annan game against Edinburgh side Trinity Accies is called off after Accies phoned to say they couldn't get a bus Violetbank is still waterlogged so Annan moved the game to the Everholm to ensure the game against Accies was playable. This move would have cost Annan upto £300 in gate money but Annan wanted to play the game. I hear the Annan players and committee were not very happy!!!!
Annan take on Dunfermline on the 16th at Violetbank (hopefully) in the SRU bowl.
Annan are drawn against high-flying Irvine in the 2nd round of the SRU Shield. This is of course assuming Annan can beat Dunfermline in the first round. If Annan manage to win this game, the game is to be played on the 16th December 2000 at Violetbank. (Although I don't think this will be possible!!)
Full Draw:
Annan or Dunfermline v Irvine
Madras College FP v Stewartry
Helensburgh or Hawick YM v Livingston

Annans cup game against Dunfermline is postponded due to a waterlogged pitch. After Annan have just spent thousands on the new drainage system at Violetbank, you have to ask yourself if it was worth it after its fails its first real test. Annan return to league action next Saturday, taking on Trinity Accies at Violetbank, lets hope the waters drained off by then!!!
Annan beat Corstorphine 12-6 to gain their second away win of the season. Annan dominated the game and scored the only 2 tries. A great result for Annan that takes them away from the relegation battle. Annan take a break from league action on Saturday when they take on Dunfermline in the 1st round of the SRU Sheild. Game is at Violetbank.
Annan are beaten again by Langholm. This is now the 5th time on the trot we have been beaten by the Milntown team. Annan score the only try but are beaten by 4 penalties.

Annan draw with Ross High 3-3 in a rain swept Violetbank. Both defences held up well and Stand-Off Gogs Carmichael was the Annan hero when he kicked a penalty in the last minute to secure the draw and Annan 2 points. Annan are beaten by Livingston 25-10 in their latest Division 1 game. A poor result for Annan that pushes them closer to the relegation places.
Who would have believed it!! Annan are drawn away AGAIN in the 3rd round of the SRU Cup. This time its against Premier 3 team, Musselburgh. Game is to played on Saturday 4th November. It should be a good indication at how far Annan have come over the last few years. As Musselburgh are a class side although they are struggling this season in Premier 3.
The SRU announced today that Hutchies/Aloysians are to be deducted 4 points for fielding an ineligible player in their league matches against Ross High (on 23 September) and Haddington (30 September). This makes things even more interesting in the league!!!
Annan beat Division 4 Hillfoots RFC 20-5 in this 2nd round SRU cup tie at Violetbank. A large home support saw Annan score 4 quick tries in the first half and a cricket score looked likely, but Hillfoots dug in and scored the only other points of the game. Lets hope Annan get another home draw when the 3rd round is announced.
Full Match Report (or read Hillfoots match report)
Annan produce one of their best displays of the season to beat league leaders Kilmarnock Falcons. A wet and windy game down at Annan only produced 2 tries, one for each team, but the steady boot of old timer Gogs Carmichael gave Annan a great win and a huge boost to the team who had suffered 3 defeats in a row.
Annan take a break from the league next week with a home cup tie against Hillfoots RFC
Annan suffer their third league defeat of the season, going down 21-15 to Glenrothes. At least Annan gained a bonus point for keeping the defeat within 7 points but Annan HAVE to get out of this rut if they want to make something of this season.
Annan suffer their second league defeat of the season, going down 16-26 to Haddington. Annan never looked like winning this game and with a number of the Annan players going off with injuries it wasn't the best day for Annan. Stuart Williamson got one of the Annan tries.
Full Match Report (or read Haddingtons match report)
Annan suffer their first league defeat of the season, going down 48-10 to championship favourites Hutchesons/Aloysians. Annan always knew they were going to have a tough time in Glasgow for this game and so it proved with Hutchesons/Aloysians running away with the game and the points!!. Annan will have to regroup and try and take full points against Haddington next week. Andrew Render was the Annan try scorer.
Annan are drawn against Hillfoots of National Division 4 in the 2nd round of the SRU Cup. Annan finally get a home tie in the cup after so many away trips!!!. Lets hope we can get to the third round again and maybe avoid Glasgow Hawks this time!!. Game is to be played on Saturday 14 October 2000.
Annan continue on their winning ways with an impressive 34-18 victory over last years division 2 champions Trinity Accies. Annan dominated this game and never looked like losing. Annan also scored 4 tries in the process to pick up a valuable bonus point. Try scorers were: Stu Williamson (1), Bob Currie (2) and Niall 'Baz' Smith (1).
Annan defeat Corstorphine 20-15 in their first League game of the season. Annan scored 2 tries while Corstorphine points came from 5 penalties. Good to start off with a win which is Annans first winning start for 3 season!!!...it could be our year!!. The Annan tries were scored by Billy Henderson, making his return to the team after a layoff because of injury, and Euan Hay
Annan 1sts take part in the annual Aspatria 15-a-side tournament. Annan play well and are unluck to lose against the hosts Aspatria in their first game. They are however soundly beaten by Workington and their tournament was over. Only 2 games were played after some teams failed to show.
Annan 2nds are beaten by Dumfries 1st XV 42-13.
The Annan Colts look like the team to watch this season with another resounding victory. This time they beat Maryport Colts 43-16. Looking good for the future!!!
Annan complete their mini-tour of the borders with a 15-6 win over old border junior league rivals Hawick YM. This was Annans first ever win against a Hawick team in Hawick!!!.....if only Langholm were so easy!!!
Annan were beaten earlier in the week by Hawick themselves 33-19.
Stuart 'Herman, Armstrong, aged 25, Annan RFC's 2nd XV Captain for Season 2000/2001 was knocked down on the Dumfries to Castle Douglas road in the early hours of Sunday morning. He died of his injuries in the Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary. I would just like to extend my sympathies to the family of Stuart who death is a tragic waste of a fine young man and a talented rugby player.
These pages are getting updated for the all new Season.....will Annan beat Langholm?.....will Annan get promoted?....will Neil Chalmers still be playing?.....all this and MORE to come.......
